Cambridge ’99s Rowing Club hopes for their own Super Saturday

Yet another crew that features athletes who have been inspired to learn to row by the success at the Olympics last year is Cambridge ‘99s Rowing Club B, starting 298th and racing for the Novice Club pennant.

Crew member Nicole Henson says “I started a learn to row course with the club in August, after going to Eton Dorney and being inspired by Super Saturday, I was desperate to give rowing a try. Since then, I have become addicted to the sport.”

The crew has a varied level of experience, with some like Nicole who will be taking part in their first race away from home waters. During the winter they have bonded as a crew, and have been seeing the results of their training, recently knocking 27 seconds off their time in the local Winter League series.

Nicole has written a blog entry for the Cambridge News, describing her experiences learning to row. You can read it here.
