Women's Eight Head of the River Race

Following the disqualification of Durham University BC B on the grounds of ineligibility, the Challenge Academic Pennant has been re-award to Cardiff University BC A. Updated results are available from our results page.

The committee would like to recognise the sportsmanship from Durham in declaring their ineligibility to us as soon as they realised.

Entries are now open on BROE for the 2023 race. All entries must be complete and paid for by 11.59pm on Friday 10th February at the latest, although entries may close earlier than this if we reach 320 paid up crews.

Please note that due to limited space, those planning to boat from a Putney club will need to contact our Chief Land Marshal for permission to bring a trailer.

The Pennants Eligibility Document has been updated for the 2023 race. The only major change from last year’s version is that the eligibility period for Beginner crews has been returned to the previous definition, i.e. all rowers must have started rowing on or after 1st March 2021.

The lists for the clubs eligible for the Small and Medium Club Pennants for 2023 are now available:

Usually, these would have been published earlier and any queries would have needed to be submitted by the end of December. Due to the delay in publishing the lists this year, we will be accepting queries up until the 31st January 2023.

Updates to pennant criteria will follow in the next couple of days, and entries will be opening shortly. Continue to watch this space!

Provisional live times will be available from here during the race:

Entries are now open on BROE for the 2022 race. All entries must be complete and paid for by 8pm on Sunday 20th February.

The Pennants eligibility document has now been updated for the 2022 race. Due to the restrictions to on-water rowing, and in particular crew rowing, over the past 2 years the Committee has made the decision to temporarily extend the eligibility period for Beginner crews by one year, such that rowers will qualify as beginner if they started rowing after 1st March 2019 (would have normally been 1st March 2020). This is the only major change from previous years.

Entries will open on Friday 14th January. Watch our social media channels for more information!
